A fun a frothy kick-off to award season and a new decade of awards as the 77th Golden Globes took place. Held in Los Angeles California at the Beverly Hilton again, the ceremony is set to recognise film and TV alike where Hollywoods elite came out in their latest fashion designs and decked in over the top jewellery to receive their accolades.
Heres a supercut of last nights winners:
A night of historic firsts, where The Farewell star Awkwafina became the first Asian-American woman to win for best actress in a musical or comedy and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir winning best score for Joker, making her the first woman to win alone in the category.
A film score is the music composed specifically for the movie to serve and enhance the story. It is usually instrumental only so as not to compete with dialogue.
Best picture (drama) and best director award went to 1917’s Sam Mendez, Quentin Tarantino scooped best screenplay for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Renée Zellweger won best actress for Judy, and Joaquin Phoenix won best actor for Joker.
Olivia Coleman won best drama series for The Crown.
Taron Egerton won Best Performance by an Actor as Elton John in a Motion Picture for Rocketman. Some may know him from Robinhood or Kingsmen alongside Julianne Moore.
Russell Crowe also won but couldn’t attend the ceremony because he’s in Australia battling the bushfire devastation.
Red carpet stand-outs:
Scarlett Johanson in Vera Wang, Kerry Washington in Altuzarra, Gwyneth Paltrow in Fendi, Cynthia Eviro in Thom Browne and my favourite Renee Zellweger in Armani Prive.
Forecasted red carpet trends:
Big poofy shoulders seem to be making a come back and we cannot shy away from bows, seems like its something we will see on the red-carpet throughout award season.
